Construction of the Assyrian Genocide Monument in Armenia has commenced

The Association of the Assyrians in Armenia "Atour", is pleased to announce that the construction of the monument dedicated to the victims of the Assyrian Genocide of 1915 in Ottoman Turkey has begun. On the 12th of November 2010 the construction began in Yerevan in a park near the crossroads of Nalbandian and Moscowyan streets.  This construction is following the decision made on the 12th of November 2008 to build a monument for the Assyrian Genocide. The Mayor of Yerevan awarded, under the article No. 5261, the provision of 16 square meters of land for construction of this monument for the victims of the 1915 Assyrian Genocide.

On 15th of November 2010 the foundation was laid along with the historical inception of a commemorative capsule in the foundation of the monument.

 


Association of the Assyrians in Armenia "Atour" expresses its sincere gratitude to the President and the Government of the Republic of Armenia.  This is carried out with the support and good relations, not only with respect to the Assyrian community of Armenia, but also to all national minorities of the Republic of Armenia.

Seyfo Center is pleased and is in full support of this project in Armenia. This monument will be a dedicated to the victims of the Assyrian Genocide 1915 as well as honouring an Assyrian artist, the late Hanibal Alkhas by using his design.
